Government of Ontario

Open a Temporary DriveTest Location in Windsor

There have been an estimated 420,000 road tests cancelled since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario, including 9,000 in Windsor-Essex. The government must act now to eliminate the severe backlog of appointments and get Windsor residents back on the road.

  • There is a severe backlog in available appointments for drivers at the Windsor DriveTest location

  • Drivers are currently booking appointments into 2023

  • Temporary centres have been open in several cities across Ontario to help elevate the backlog

  • The closest temporary DriveTest centre location is in Sarnia, ON

  • The creation of a temporary DriveTest centre in Windsor will elevate wait times for drivers and prevent Windsor residents from having to travel to other cities

  • Ontarians rely on their drivers license to get to work, go to school, buy groceries and access healthcare services

Therefore we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: to immediately open a temporary DriveTest Centre in Windsor-Essex and eliminate the backlog in road test appointments.
